William Curtin, head of the Laboratory for Multiscale Mechanics Modeling (LAMMM) at EPFL's School of Engineering and project leader of NCCR MARVEL's Pillar 1, Design and Discovery of Novel Materials, has been selected as the 2022 recipient of the Multiscale Materials Modelling Distinguished Career Achievement Award by the MMM International Advisory Board.

This award, which has been created this year, recognizes and honors individuals who have advanced the field of multiscale materials modelling through innovative, career-long research contributions. Professor William Curtin is the first recipient of the award, which highlights his contributions to the field.

The Multiscale Materials Modelling community centers around an international conference every 3-4 years, the International conference on Multiscale Materials Modeling, which encompasses much of the worldwide activity in the field. The 10th Edition of the conference was held in Baltimore, USA, on 2-7 October.
