On Monday 25 September 2017, the WISH foundation will hold the prestigious Erna Hamburger Prize and Conference, an event that brings into the limelight an influential, leading female scientist who is transforming her field and executing change.
This year, the WISH foundation will welcome Professor Mary O'Kane.
A computer engineer and pioneer in the field of automatic speech recognition, a former Dean of the Faculty of Information Sciences and Engineering at the University of Canberra and former vice-chancellor at the University of Adelaide, Mary O'Kane works today as Chief Scientist & Engineer of New South Wales (Australia) and Executive Chairman of O’Kane Associates, a consulting practice specializing in government reviews and research and innovation advice to governments in Europe, Asia and Australia.
The EPFL Equal Opportunities Office is therefore very excited to let you know that Prof. O'Kane has also accepted to give a presentation of her research and career, during an informal lunch with female PhD students and postdocs on Monday 25 September at 12h30 in room PAC88 of the Pavillon A, at EPFL.
The event will consist of a presentation in English followed by informal discussions where you will be able to ask her any kind of questions. Sandwiches, coffee and cakes will be offered. The event will last until around 14:00.
